WatchDossier Issue 14 - 2025
The Age of Intent
EDITORIAL
This issue of WatchDossier traces a single thread through disparate corners of contemporary watchmaking: intent. Whether in an Italian field watch dreaming of flight, a Swiss–Italian chronograph promising speed, or a cloistered master remembering his craft, each story asks what sincerity still looks like in a world of endless production.
In The Authenticity Engine, we examine how luxury sustains itself through discipline rather than novelty. In The Classifieds (But Not Really), the new independents speak in the coded language of desire—half advertisement, half confession. And in My Story: Franck Muller, 1995, a watchmaker’s voice becomes a mirror for the age: proud, restless, aware that permanence must now be performed as much as pursued.
Across these pages, one question endures: when everything can be manufactured, what remains worth making?
